Dr. Wiggins specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology and serves as the physician administrator for Asheville Eye Associates. Following his fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology, Dr. Wiggins served for one year as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatric Ophthalmology at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He has practiced at Asheville Eye Associates since 1991. He has served as President of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and President of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He currently serves on the Board of the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company and American Board of Ophthalmology. As Western North Carolina’s only physician fellowship-trained in both Pediatric Ophthalmology and Neuro-ophthalmology, Dr. Wiggins is a recognized authority in children’s eye disorders and neurological diseases of the visual system. Dr. Wiggins and his wife have three children. He has lived in Asheville since 1991.
