What is Valeda? 

Valeda is the first FDA-authorized treatment that uses light therapy to help improve the health of eyes with AMD and, in many cases, improve vision! It uses low-level light at specific wavelengths, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), to target the retina and improve the function of retinal cells.

How Does It Work? 

As we get older, the cells in the back of our eyes can get tired and stop clearing out waste (drusen) the way they should. When drusen builds up, it can lead to vision loss. The Valeda system uses special light to reach these cells and give them a boost. This light helps reduce inflammation, gives the cells more energy, and keeps them healthy so they can get back to doing their job. Less drusen = better vision!

During Your Session

You’ll be seated comfortably in front of the Valeda device and our team will guide you
through each step.

After Your Session

You may notice a brief “afterimage” or light spot right after treatment. This is called photostress and it usually goes away in just a few minutes. You’ll be able to go back to
your day right after your visit, no downtime needed!

Scheduling Your Sessions

We’ll help you schedule your Valeda treatments at a time that works best for you. Each cycle includes 9 treatment sessions over 5 weeks. Patient’s repeat a cycle every 4 months for 2 years, based on what’s proven to work best in clinical studies. Cycles will depend on which provider you are scheduled with. Cycles available Monday – Thursday. 

Payment Options

Valeda treatments are not typically covered by insurance, as they are considered an advanced therapeutic option. Our team is happy to answer any questions you may have about coverage, payment options, or what to expect during treatment. Please see our treatment pricing below:

Bilateral – $300.00 per session

Unilateral – $200.00 per session
